Haley Rea was born with a passion for international travel, and has fallen in love with many places all over the world. Cuba, however, is where she left her heart. She can’t wait to help you fall in love with Cuba, too.
Haley lived and studied in Havana during college, learning Cuban slang and dancing her way through almost every province. She was unofficially adopted into a Cuban family, who taught her how to navigate the local bureaucracy, find the best underground concerts, and cook “a lo cubano.” She feels at home on the island, with its warm climate and slow pace, and is eager to guide you through your own Cuban experience.
Growing up, Haley got to see a lot of the country. She majored in political economy and Spanish at Tulane University, where she also learned about Latin America and international development. Her travels have included India, Denmark, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Mexico. She says she brings to insightCuba “a deep understanding of what makes a great trip: engaging local culture, language, history, politics, and adventure.”
Haley drives a pedicab part-time. In her free hours, she enjoys practicing yoga, fostering pets, and playing rugby with the Louisiana Lagniappe Women’s Rugby Club.
