Recipe of the Week: The Authentic Mojito

What better way to celebrate the new year with a Mojito right? With all of the hustle and bustle over the last few weeks, the Mayan Apocalypse coming and going, and the days finally getting a bit longer, we thought it would be good to give you a nice recipe to sit back and relax with... Maybe with dreams of Cuba on your mind. This is an easy one, and probably one of the most popular Cuban recipes around. Enjoy!

  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • Juice from 1/2 lime
  • 8 mint leaves
  • 1 sprig of mint
  • Havana Club white Rum (2 ounces)
  • 2 ounces club soda

1. Place the mint leaves into a Collins glass and squeeze the juice from a cut lime over it.

2. Add the powdered sugar, then muddle the mint into the lime juice and sugar with a muddler.

3. Add ice and rum then  stir, and top off with the club soda (you can also stir the club soda in as per your taste). Garnish with a mint sprig
