Day 2

After breakfast, join us on an excursion to a cigar factory where you’ll learn more about tobacco growing and the art of cigar rolling. Later, we’ll head to a local farmers market and you’ll see firsthand Cuba’s dual currency at work. Then we'll take a guided walking tour of Old Havana’s cobblestone streets, and explore one of the most wonderful examples of sixteenth-century Spanish colonial architecture. Your Cuban guide will take you through this UNESCO World Heritage site past all of the must-see locations, and give you an insider’s look at the local hangs and hidden treasures.

This afternoon after lunch on your own, you’ll take a ferry ride to Casa Blanca to visit Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabana, the famous fort at the mouth of Havana harbor. Built in the 18th century, and more widely known as La Cabaña, this landmark has some amazing views and is not to be missed. Later tonight you'll enjoy dinner on your own. We recommend trying one of Havana's delicious paladares, or privately owned restaurants.

Day 3

This morning, we’ll take a short drive to the small town of Jaimanitas to meet renowned artist Jose Fuster. Known as the Picasso of the Caribbean, he has turned his home and community into a living art gallery that has transformed old facades into colorful murals. Then continue exploring the artistic side of Havana with a visit to Callejón de Hamel, a unique street in the center of the city near the University of Havana with brightly colored murals, sculptures and objects infusing the two-block alleyway with a contagiously creative vibe. You will also learn about Afro-Cuban religions and meet with local musicians who gather and share their talents here.

After lunch on your own, you'll visit the famous Revolution Square before wrapping up the day by meeting with local artists. Dinner tonight will be on your own. Your insightCuba tour leader, who is an expert in the dining scene, will make the best recommendations.
