Your journey begins in Old Havana, Cuba’s famed quarter that seduces with Spanish colonial architecture and color galore. Throughout the week, you’ll engage in a comprehensive study of the Cuban legal system – from the electoral system to teaching of law in universities, to family codes and criminal law in Cuba. You’ll gain insight into similarities between the neighboring countries, all while discussing bilateral relations with the United States. In between, we’ll take in bouts of Cuban talent, thanks to the dedicated artists and young authors spanning the island nation.
Fueling a dose of wanderlust into the trip, we’ll swap the Cuban capital for a getaway westbound. Exploring the alleged City of Bridges, Matanzas will reveal itself groundbreaking, home to the tallest bridge in Cuba. From here onwards, the journey continues on to Varadero, a Carribean slice of paradise, for a dip in turquoise waters before heading back to Havana.

Starting your inaugural day in Cuba, today we roam the streets of Old Havana. With stops to the most famed plazas and Hemingway’s favorite drinking haunt, the UNESCO World Heritage Site wallows in architecture and color.
Following lunch in the historic center, meet professionals from the National Association of Cuban Jurists (UNJC). Then, participate in a dialogue with representatives of the Cuban Society of Constitutional Law, discussing the legal and electoral systems in Cuba.
After a replenishing dinner, retrace your steps back to Old Havana, best explored by foot in the evening, harbor breeze.
The morning starts with a guided visit to the University of Havana, hosted by the University professors on site. To follow, at the same venue, join the debate on Cuba ‐ U.S. bilateral relations with the representatives of the Cuban Society on International Law. In between the two meetings, we’ll partake in lunch.
Continuing on the day, we head to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, an NGO fostering international relations and Cuban culture abroad. A presentation of AMISTUR Cuba S.A follows, the Institute’s travel agency and your host in Cuba.

Leaving the Cuban capital behind, this morning we’re off for a stint in Matanzas, set in the Western part of the country. A brief stop at Bacunayagua Brigde sightseeing point reveals the tallest bridge in Cuba, one that marks the boundary between Matanzas and the newly appointed Mayabeque province. Considered one of the seven wonders of Cuban civil engineering, we continue on with a bus-tour of this so-called City of Bridges. Upon arrival at the Ediciones Vigía Publishing House, a discussion on literary promotion of young authors in the province will ensue. Lunch follows.
Then, we’ll journey on to Varadero, the island’s most sought-out tourist resort. To start with, get acquainted with the new surroundings on this afternoon’s bus tour. Next, meet the artists of a local community project.
Following hotel check-in, dinner is served. Finally, join members of a Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), for an evening exchange.
Today we delve into the Family Code and Family Law in Cuba, with experts from the Cuban Society on Civil and Family Law. A visit to law offices providing specialized services on the island will provide more insight into civil and criminal law, as well as a general overview of the practice of law in Cuba.
