Visit Historic Landmarks in Havana | Visit a Cigar Factory | Visit a Local Farmer's Market | Walking Tour of Old Havana | Visit the Famous Callejón de Hamel | 1 UNESCO World Heritage Site
Join us in Havana, the elusive Caribbean capital city that has caught the eye and captured the hearts of travelers for decades. The sights and sounds of the city are lively and inviting, just like the people who inhabit it.
After clearing immigration, customs, and collecting your luggage at José Martí International Airport in Havana, you’ll check-in to your hotel. You’ll have time to relax and explore the streets of Havana with recommendations from your guide.
This evening, we’ll celebrate your arrival with a tour orientation and welcome reception.
AM ACTIVITIES OPTION:
After breakfast, join us on an excursion to a cigar factory where you’ll learn more about tobacco growing and the art of cigar rolling. Later, we’ll head to a local farmers market and you’ll see firsthand Cuba’s dual currency at work. Then we'll take a guided walking tour of Old Havana’s cobblestone streets, and explore one of the most wonderful examples of sixteenth-century Spanish colonial architecture. Your Cuban guide will take you through this UNESCO World Heritage site past all of the must-see locations, and give you an insider’s look at the local hangs and hidden treasures.
PM ACTIVITIES OPTION:
This afternoon, you’ll visit Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabana, the famous fort at the mouth of Havana harbor. Built in the 18th century, and more widely known as La Cabaña, this landmark has some amazing views and is not to be missed.
AM ACTIVITIES OPTION:
Experience the artistic side of Havana with a visit to Callejón de Hamel, a unique street in the center of the city near the University of Havana. Here you will see brightly colored murals, sculptures and objects infusing the two-block alleyway with a contagiously creative vibe. You will also learn about Afro-Cuban religions and meet with local musicians who gather and share their talents here.
PM ACTIVITIES OPTION:
This afternoon, we’ll take a short drive to the small town of Jaimanitas to meet renowned artist Jose Fuster. Known as the Picasso of the Caribbean, he has turned his home and community into a living art gallery that has transformed old facades into colorful murals.
Check out of your hotel and bid “adiosito” (“goodbye for now”) to Havana. Travel to the airport for your return flight to the U.S.
