Join renowned record label Putumayo on a six-day journey dedicated to the rhythm of Cuba. From the moment you touch the ground in Havana, Putumayo’s official music specialist Jacob Edgar will give you a look at the island's unique culture through the music and people that make it so fascinating. The Putumayo Cuba! Cuba! Tour includes inside access to world-renowned artists, private performances, dance lessons, and even a visit to the recording studio used by Buena Vista Social Club. We’ll also explore local cuisine, art and traditions with your expert Cuban guide who will offer a unique perspective and understanding of the place they call home

Day 1

After clearing immigration and customs at the José Martí International Airport in Havana, you’ll take a short drive to the Hotel Ingleterra for hotel check-in and tour orientation.* After check-in, enjoy a cocktail reception with Putumayo’s long-time music researcher and ethnomusicologist Jacob Edgar, and a private musical performance by one of Cuba’s most influential artists. This evening, classic cars will transport you to a private dinner with a special guest from Cuba’s music industry.

Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, take in the sights and sounds of Old Havana as you’re guided through the streets on a walking tour. Visit EGREM Studios, where the Buena Vista Social Club album was recorded.

After lunch at a paladar (a privately owned restaurant), you’ll meet an art specialist for a guided tour of Havana’s justly famous Museum of Fine Arts. Next, we’ll visit a community project where local musicians will give you a private show.

This evening’s paladar dinner features classic Cuban cuisine and traditional music. Tonight’s music activity will include a live performance at a favorite venue.

Day 3

This morning, participate in a lively discussion about Cuban music styles, culture, and history with an influential musician and musicologist. Visit a percussion artist’s studio and learn more about the tradition of Cuban percussion. 

After lunch, you’ll interact with some residents from the Santa Amalia project. Next, you’ll be treated to a private salsa lesson, followed by a demonstration by Cuban casino dancers.

Enjoy dinner on your own this evening. We suggest you try one of the area’s many paladares. Your Cuban guide, a dining-scene expert, can make the best recommendations. Following dinner we recommend checking out one of Havana's popular music venues.

Day 4

After breakfast, you’ll start the day by meeting with one of Cuba’s most influential photographers. Enjoy a private tour of the famous Fabrica de Arte Cubana (FAC), then get acquainted with the musicians who perform there.

After lunch at a top-rated paladar next to the FAC, you’ll be introduced to members of La Colmenita, a touring children’s group that performs locally and internationally.

Following dinner on your own, we’ll soak up the sounds of Havana at a live music show.

Day 5

Today we’ll visit a food co-op and learn more about local products available to Cubans. We’ll continue to the town of Guanabacoa, where you’ll meet an Afro-Cuban group and enjoy a private traditional Afro-Cuban music-and-dance performance, and learn about the origins of Santeria and its profound influence in Cuban music.

After lunch, we continue on to Playa del Oeste, where you can dip your feet in the Caribbean Sea and interact with locals at a dance party. We'll return to Havana for a farewell dinner.

Day 6

After breakfast at the hotel, bid farewell to Cuba as you board your flight home.
