Warm, creamy and deliciously sweet, arroz con leche is one of the many desserts that Cubans can’t get enough of. Whether you prefer the classic recipe or like to add your own special ingredients (nuts, fruits, etc) this tasty treat is sure to put a smile on your face!
•1/2 cup Rice
•1 Cinnamon stick
• 4 cups Milk
•1 cup Sugar
• 1 tsp. Vanilla extract
•Pinch of salt
•1 1/2 cup water
1. Over medium-high heat, add the rice (rinsed), lemon rind, cinnamon stick and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook until rice is soft and most of the water has been absorbed
2.Remove cinnamon stick and lemon rind. Add in the milk, vanilla, sugar and salt to the cooked rice. Cook on low heat for an hour, occasionally stirring until thick, should be an hour.
3. Chill for an hour, serve, garnish with cinnamon dusting
