Nico Chávez has happily split her life between her two countries, El Salvador and the United States. An early need to be several places at once has turned into a life-long passion, to see as much of the world as possible. Nico has travelled extensively through Western Europe as well as North and Central America, and has lived in Canada, El Salvador, Cuba, and all over the United States.
Nico is currently living in her native San Salvador working as a freelance interpreter/translator and co-running a historical memory archive. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies and Documentary Theater from Hampshire College. While writing her undergraduate thesis, a multimedia play about tourism in Havana, she became absolutely mesmerized by Cuba’s dynamic culture and complex reality, and hasn’t stopped feeling its magic since.
Nico loves working with insightCuba and helping people connect to what she loves best about Cuba: its warm, honest people, vibrant musical traditions, and rich cultural history.
